Sophomore Fleur van Beek posted her lowest round of the season to lead University of Missouri women’s golf at the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Arizona, on Sunday.
In a field that features five teams ranked in the top 50 nationally, it was van Beek who shined among the highly-competitive field. The sophomore carded a three-under 69 to pace the Tigers, finishing one stroke ahead of her season best (accomplished three times) and just the second round of sub-70 during her career. She wasted no time getting into the red, carding a birdie on the first four holes of the day and adding a fifth on the 11th hole for the final tally of 69.
Overall, all seven Tigers finished in the top 50 in a field that features 77 golfers in the tournament. Ffion Tynan and Jade Zamora scored matching 73s on the day to place 26th overall. Irene Garcia Sanchez and Melanie Walker were one stroke behind with a 74, while Alexandra Berglund and Addie Dobson finished with a 75.
The Tigers are currently tied for fourth of 14 schools with a team score of +2, tied with No. 30 Kansas State and ahead of two nationally-ranked schools in No. 18 Arizona and No. 47 Miami.
Day two of the MountainView Collegiate is set for Monday morning with the Tigers first teeing off at 9:10 a.m. CT.
