MLB Scores: Red Sox 6, Mets 4

The Mets dropped their road exhibition game against the Red Sox this afternoon by a 6-4 score, as Boston jumped on Mets starter Paul Blackburn for several runs early. Wins and losses do not matter in the Grapefruit League, of course, and here are some of the most notable things to have happened during the game.

Paul Blackburn didn’t make it out of the first inning before getting lifted, though he was sent back out there for the second inning thanks to spring training rules that allow teams to manage in-game workloads. In total, he gave up four runs, all earned, in one-and-one-third innings with no strikeouts and two walks.
Génesis Cabrera notched a pair of strikeouts without issuing a walk or allowing a hit in a scoreless inning of relief, and aside from Brandon Waddell, every Mets reliever fared well in the game.
Jeff McNeil went 2-for-3 with an absolutely smoked double off the center field fence to begin the game.
Jose Siri hit another no-doubt home run, as he continues to make a strong impression early in spring training.
