Barcelona star Jules Kounde expressed his overwhelming happiness with the 5-2 victory over traditional rival Real Madrid, on Sunday evening, in the Spanish Super Cup final, which was held at the Shining Jewel Stadium in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
“The victory has a special taste, a whole season has passed without us winning a title. In addition, it was against Real Madrid in the Clasico,” Kounde said, according to Spanish newspaper AS
. “We implemented the match plan very well, as we did at the Santiago Bernabéu. We played with great calm and patience, and we knew that our commitment to the plan would lead us to victory.”
“I feel very happy and proud of the team. We learned our lesson. We were ahead in goals, and after the sending off (for goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny), we gathered and said that we could not lose this victory,”
the French international continued. “(The victory) gives us an extra boost of confidence. Now we have a title, we needed it and we deserved it.”
