Paige Spiranac makes decision on ‘risque’ golf outfits after backlash | Golf | Sport

Paige Spiranac, the golfing sensation known for her bold fashion statements on the course, has made it clear she won’t be changing up her outfits anytime soon. Despite facing backlash from traditionalists for her choice of low-cut tops and mini-shorts, Spiranac remains unfazed.

She defended her style in a conversation with the Daily Mail, saying: “I grew up playing on public golf courses where guys were wearing cut-off jean shorts and tank tops. So when I started posting in tank tops and leggings, it blew people’s minds in golf. It was just the most risquee thing that anyone could be doing.”

Paige also noted the evolving nature of the sport: “That was my first experience of this whole other world to golf. I always knew it’s more of a stuffy sport but it is changing over time.”

She’s convinced that her social media presence, along with that of other golf influencers, showcases the fun and social aspects of golf, helping to unite enthusiasts.

As the influence of social media grows within the golfing world, the numbers speak volumes: the top ten male golfers have a combined Instagram following of 8.6 million, while Paige herself commands an audience of over four million followers.

YouTube’s golf-centric channels continue to explode, notching up more views than even LIV Golf or PGA Tour matches – with Bryson DeChambeau’s round with President Donald Trump amassing a staggering 13 million views and DeChambeau’s Good Good channel boasting over a million subscribers.

Paige believes that pro golfers should take a leaf out of digital creators’ books by letting their personalities shine on the internet.

She highlighted the distinctive struggle faced by golfers: “With golfers, you don’t really have that. You have to connect to that person, and so if they’re not showing their personality online, it is harder to connect.”
