HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s golf team finished in 12th place as the final round of the Puerto Rico Shootout was canceled due to unplayable conditions at Palmas Del Mar Golf Club.
The Vaqueros finished with a two-round total of 609 with rounds of 308 and 301 and finished just six shots back of Ball State and Little Rock for 10th place.
Sophomore Natalia Rodriguez finished tied for 14th with a two-round score of 147 with rounds of 76 and 71. Sophomore Preston Saiz and senior Cristina Galban both tied for 51st with two-round totals of 154. Saiz carded rounds of 74 and 80 while Galba posted rounds of 79 and 75.
Junior Jackie Howard Gonzalez tied for 62nd with a two-round score of 156 after posting rounds of 79 and 77. Freshman Kieli Saenz tied for 65th with a two-round score of 157 with rounds of 79 and 78.
The Vaqueros are back in action from March 10-11 at the Riverbend Intercollegiate in Sugar Land.
