The Philadelphia 76ers have finally placed Joel Embiid on a much-needed shutdown.
In the wake of the team’s disastrous progress, the franchise was compelled to call it quits on Joel Embiid’s availability this season.
It was formally announced Friday the Philadelphia 76ers were deactivating the superstar big man for the rest of the season.
The 76ers will now let Embiid get focused on rehabbing his knee instead of competing for the No. 12 team in the East.

Dwight Howard blasts fans for criticizing and pressuring Joel Embiid to play
Back at the start of the season Embiid himself announced that he might not be playing back-to-back games anymore.
This remark immediately raised eyebrows and caused uproar from many, ripping the superstar for his reluctance to be available.
And for how things have turned out now, Dwight Howard thinks that fans should be not now be frustrated with Embiid, who warned something was wrong from the very start.
Howard wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “When the man tell you his situation listen 🤷🏾♂️Joel said he wasn’t going to play back to backs to prevent this now he out the whole season … yall forgot he missed 2 seasons before he was even a rookie?”
Shutting Embiid down is a justifiable move for the 76ers
Embiid has been in and out of the 76ers’ lineup this season. He only appeared for 19 games, averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 boards, 4.5 assists, and a career-worst 44.4 percent shooting.
The 76ers considerably made the right call to shelf Embiid for the remainder of the season a move that had been recommended by fans and experts. This year has been a lost one already despite Paul George’s commitment by putting his podcast on hold.
We can only hope for the best that Embiid will fully recover for next season and rediscover his old MVP form.
