Summary
- NCAA Football 14’s online servers are closing on March 13.
- The shutdown means some achievements and trophies will become unobtainable.
- College Football 25 is out now and College Football 26 is releasing this summer.
On Thursday, March 13, the online multiplayer servers for NCAA Football 14 will be shuttered, making it a sad day for college football video game fans. For over a decade, NCAA Football 14 was the only college football game on the market. Legal issues surrounding player likeness and other matters kept EA from making any new college football games, so fans of the sport had to stick with NCAA Football 14 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to get their fix.
The lack of any new college football games was no doubt disappointing for fans, but it did help NCAA Football 14‘s popularity. In a matter unlike most other sports games, NCAA Football 14‘s secondhand price increased dramatically, as it became the only college football game in town. This all came to an end in 2024 when EA finally released EA Sports College Football 25, and now, not even a year later, NCAA Football 14‘s online servers are being shut down.

This was confirmed by EA months ago, but the day is nearly here. NCAA Football 14‘s servers will be shut down on Thursday, March 13, so anyone that wants to get in any online sessions between now and then is running out of time to do so. Of course, NCAA Football 14‘s servers being shut down means that some of the game’s achievements and trophies will become completely unobtainable as well, so completionists may also want to pop in before March 13.

Considering how long NCAA Football 14 was the go-to for college football fans, it shutting down is even sadder than most sports video game server closures. Sports video games rarely keep their online functional as long as NCAA Football 14 has, after all. On the bright side, at least NCAA Football 14 isn’t shutting down at a time when no new college football games are out. EA Sports College Football 25 is out now and has proven to be overwhelmingly popular, earning mostly positive reviews and becoming the best-selling sports video game in the history of the industry in the process.
EA isn’t letting the college football momentum end with College Football 25 either. EA Sports College Football 26 is in active development and will release at some point this summer. Fans are still waiting to learn what specific gameplay improvements and new features are coming in this year’s entry, but all that, the release date, and more should be revealed as we get closer to summer.
