CINCINNATI (WXIX) -MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is considering removing Cincinnati-native and former Reds player Pete Rose from the ineligible list, according to ESPN.This potential move follows a petition filed by Rose’s family on January 8, advocating for a reevaluation of his legacy in the sport.ESPN Jeffrey Lenkov, who was Rose’s lawyer before his passing in September at the age of 83, filed a reinstatement petition after he and Fawn Rose, the oldest daughter of Pete Rose, met with Manfred and MLB spokesman Pat Courtney in the commissioner’s office on Dec. 17.Manfred is now reviewing the petition to reinstate Rose, ESPN said.ESPN says Lenkov declined to release the petition that he sent to the commissioner.[More videos from FOX19 NOW]This comes one day after President Trump announced that he will pardon the Cincinnati-native from being barred from the MLB Hall of Fame due to Rose’s gambling scandal.Rose’s ban stemmed from his betting allegations while he was managing his hometown club.On August 24, 1989, Rose was banished for life from the game of baseball by A.
