Nathan Johansen and Aidan Miller scored for the Stallions.Girls: No. 1-seed Desert Vista defeated No. 2 Pinnacle, 3-1, to win the 6A girls soccer championship at Mesa High, its first since the 2015-16 season, according to AIA records. Virginia Roth, Piper Garvin and Katia Cabanillas accounted for the Thunder goals. Mya Stenehjem scored the lone goal for the Pioneers.5ABoys: No. 1-seeded Sunrise Mountain defeated No. 14 Independence in the 5A boys championship in an overtime game played at Mesa Mountain View High School. Kale Howell’s penalty kick won it for the Mustangs, the runner-up in last year’s 5A final and in the 2021-22 final.Girls: No. 1-seeded Chaparral is back on top, after defeating No. 7 AZ College Prep, 3-1, at Mountain View High School. The Firebirds last won the title in the 2022-23 season.4ABoys: No. 1-seeded Tucson Salpointe Catholic further cemented its place as one of the greatest high school sports dynasties in Arizona history Saturday, winning its fifth straight 4A boys soccer championship and 12th overall with a 7-2 win over No. 3 Scottsdale Saguaro at Mesa Mountain View High School. Emiliano Castro scored twice for the Lancers,, which added goals from five other players, including senior Leo Gutierrez, who closed out his high school career as Arizona’s all-time leader in goals scored. Dom Brewer scored both goals for the Sabercats.Girls: No. 2-seeded Salpointe’s girls’ team showed why it’s been carving a dynasty of its own, winning its fourth 4A championship in the past five seasons with a 1-0 win over No. 1 Prescott at Mountain View. The Lancers lost in last year’s final after winning the previous three titles.
