Fieldhouse has new sports and events coordinator

King

The Circle K Fieldhouse at NexusPark has a new sports and events coordinator.

Francys King was introduced by NexusPark Fieldhouse Sports Manager Martavius Mims during a parks board meeting last week, but she had already gotten started in the role earlier in the month.

As sports and events coordinator, King will oversee youth and adult recreational programs and work to develop new ones for the fieldhouse as well, according to Brady Buckley, associate director of sports, Columbus Parks and Recreation.

King will also serve as the on-site contact for weekend events, coordinate scheduling for part-time event staff and concessions, as well as oversee weekly drop-in activities.

King earned her MBA in business administration from Ball State University, where she also competed as a Division 1 pitcher on the Cardinals softball team. She also played softball for two years at Tennessee State, according to a profile on Ball State’s athletics page.

During her time in Muncie, King developed her own pitching business, organizing camps and clinics to help young athletes enhance their skills and build confidence, according to parks officials.

King told members of the parks board that she’s originally from Mechanicsburg, Ohio.

“I’m thrilled to step into this role at Circle K Fieldhouse,” King said. “I look forward to bringing my experience as an athlete, coach, and businesswoman to the program and community.”

“We’re super happy to have Francys on-board, she’s come in and hit the ground running with the youth and adult leagues that we have operating in the Fieldhouse,” Mims said.
