Finn Jones Wants Another Shot at Playing Iron Fist in the MCU

Daredevil: Born Again has brought back Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio for what is essentially the long-awaited fourth season of Daredevil. This has left the door wide open for the other Marvel shows that were previously streamed on Netflix to be revisited as well, creating the possibility for Finn Jones to get another chance to portray Iron Fist.

Per ComicBookMovie, Iron Fist star Finn Jones commented on a possible MCU return while at the anime convention La Connve Monterrey in Monterrey, NL, Mexico. He noted how he’s well aware of the criticism that has been leveled against the series, sharing how that’s only fueled his desire to return. Jones explained how he wants to prove his critics wrong by getting another chance to bring the Iron Fist character to life if he gets the call for an MCU comeback.

Academy Award-winner and DCU icon Viola Davis offers an original character she could portray if she were to step into the MCU.

“I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it,” Jones told fans. “My response to that is, ‘Give me a f**king chance, man.’ I’m here and I’m ready, and I wanna prove people wrong.”

Iron Fist was one of the Daredevil offshoots alongside Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Punisher, and The Defenders. The reviews for the show were on the negative side, though there was a significant improvement between its two seasons. After scoring a 20% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes for the first season, Season 2 of Iron Fist was scored at 55%.

Why Didn’t The Defenders Ever Get a Season 2?

Long before returning in Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock joined the Defenders to save New York City. Why didn’t The Defenders ever return?

Jones has not been seen in the role of Iron Fist since 2018. Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter and Luke Cage star Luke Colter also have yet to make MCU returns. Given the success of Daredevil: Born Again, which has a second season in the works, the odds are seemingly increasing for the other Defenders characters to pop back up in the MCU. While it remains to be seen if any of them will get their own new project, in the way that Jon Bernthal will star in his own Punisher special for Disney+, possible appearances in Daredevil: Born Again would seem to be the perfect way for Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage to return.

Finn Jones Wants a Heroes for Hire Series

“I think I’m in a place professionally where I would like to continue to grow with that character,” Jones also said last year, via The Nerd Shepherd, noting that a Heroes for Hire series with Luke Cage would be a good approach. “I would love to see the chemistry between me and Mike again. It was always fantastic. I think those are really interesting characters to put together. If they would bring me and Mike back to do a Heroes for Hire TV series, I think it would be the right way.”

Iron Fist is streaming on Disney+.
