PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Three years ago, fate brought two musicians together on Beck Avenue in St. Andrews. Today, they’re taking the local music scene by storm. Known as Jack and Gin, Sandi Marlisa and Eli J. Ingram have been sharing their passion for music and community, blending their diverse sound into something uniquely Bay County.
“Whether you’re 8 years old, 80 years old, 32, or 54, we’ve got a song for you,” says Sandi MarLisa, describing the duo’s musical range. “Jack and Gin writes music for everybody. We don’t limit ourselves to one genre—we love all kinds of music, and that shows in our work.”
Their latest album, Island of Light, reflects their deep connection to the area, inspired by the resilience of the community after Hurricane Michael. “The main idea behind Jack and Gin is to celebrate this place and who we are, especially after Hurricane Michael,” says Sandi Marlisa. “What we’ve rebuilt as an artistic community is pretty incredible.”
From blues to folk, rock to indie, Jack and Gin’s sound mirrors the diversity of the Gulf Coast. But for them, it’s not just about the music—it’s about community. “We try to feature as many local artists as we can in our music,” says Sandi. “We want our music videos to showcase local talent and culture, like this mural here, which was created by 12 different artists.”
Creating original music isn’t always easy, but for Jack and Gin, it’s about telling stories that matter. “If you’re an original artist, you’re in the business of educating people about what you’re doing,” says Sandi. “It’s not about trying to sound like someone else. It’s about doing something new.”
For aspiring musicians, their advice is clear: “Stay true to yourself. Never give up. If you want to play original music, make it a part of who you are. It’ll get you through the hardest parts of life.”
Jack and Gin are on a mission to put Bay County on the musical map, one song at a time. You can catch them live at Flex Fest on March 7th and at Roberts Hall on March 15th. Their music is also available on various streaming platforms.
