Annual Fort Wayne Museum of Art gala raises over $400,000

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Fort Wayne Museum of Art (FWMoA) held its annual gala Friday, raising over $400,000 to support expanding its programs.

The President and CEO, Charles Shepard, says this night is the museum’s most important night of the year because it’s when they raise the most money.

“We want our audience to have a great time. Understand that what they’re doing is supporting the museum. We bring exhibitions, children’s programming, and everything else to the community. And it works, it’s the greatest night of our year,” says Shepard.

The gala features gourmet meals and appetizers, various art displays, drinks, and a silent auction.

Shepard says the planning process for the gala has been months in the making.

“An event like this that happens in one evening is a result of almost six months’ work on behalf of the staff. They try and plan every single moment. From the auction to the meal, to everybody’s cocktails, and they do a fabulous job doing it,” says Shepard.

He says the money will allow the museum to further programs and advance their exhibitions quicker than you might think.

“Expansion, bigger collection, more service, more programming for kids and adults, and that’s just around the corner,” says Shepard.
