Finn Jones wants another chance to play Iron Fist

Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, is back. Cox first played the character back when Netflix was the company with the Marvel shows. Now, Disney and Marvel have returned with “Daredevil: Born Again” on Disney+. Whatever you might think of that series thus far (for a Daredevil show, it could use a bit more Daredevil), it does have things percolating. Jon Bernthal popping up as The Punisher in “Born Again” helped fuel that as well. One veteran of the Netflix era of Marvel shows is open to returning…if anybody out there wants to give him a chance.

Finn Jones is best known as starring as Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist, in, well, “Iron Fist.” The only issue for that is, by and large, “Iron Fist” is considered the worst of the Marvel shows that originated on Netflix. While some of that was the writing, and the character, it wasn’t like there was a consensus that Jones wasn’t part of the issue. And yet, Jones remains hopeful he might get a second shot at the role.

The idea was broached while Jones was speaking at an anime convention. He said there was “willingness for the fans to see that happen,” which is about as lukewarm an assertion as one can make. Jones is not delusional, though. He noted “I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it,” but building off of that added “I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong.”

It’s entirely possible Jones will get to play Iron Fist again, though whether or not he gets a “Born Again” style show remains to be seen. Eh, who are we kidding? That’s almost definitely not happening. Jones could pop up, though. He’s interested in it, clearly, and if he just popped up for a scene as Danny Rand that might register as fun even for those who didn’t love “Iron Fist.” Plus, with better writing, maybe a second go of it as Iron Fist, however brief, would prove more palatable.
