New Music Honors Wall celebrates student achievements.

The newly installed wall features performers dating back to 1959.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College celebrated the unveiling of its new Music Honors Wall, marking a tribute to the college’s rich history of music performance.

The event led up to the annual Honors Recital, where six selected music majors took center stage in Wolfe Recital Hall.

The newly installed wall, located on the third floor of the college, features a list of Honors Recital performers dating back to 1959.

For many, the wall serves as a reminder of the hard work and dedication of past students who helped shape the college’s music program. Staff and students shared the significance of celebrating this long-standing tradition.

“It’s rewarding for them to see their accomplishment,” said Cynthia, Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Del Mar College. “It helps to inspire them to keep going and practicing.”

Benjamin Aldana, a trombone student at Del Mar College, said the Honors Wall serves as a tribute to past performers who set a high standard.

“For us, it’s about honoring the efforts of those who came before us. It’s a way to acknowledge their dedication and the hard work they put into their music.”

The new installation is a modern version of the Honors Wall that was previously displayed in the old music building before 2020, offering a fresh take on a beloved tradition.
