Did Anyone Find Any Hidden Immunity Idols or Advantages On Episode 3 of ‘Survivor 48?’

The short answer is no. On the Lagi Tribe, Star Toomey was still in possession of the puzzle lock that held the Hidden Immunity Idol inside. With some of her tribemates unsure if they should help decode the cryptogram or keep Star without a vote, the contents remained locked away. Star still has no vote the first time she heads to Tribal Council. On the Vula Tribe, since Sai Hughley used her Immunity Idol at the last Tribal Council, it was believed that the idol would be replaced in the jungle. Mary Zheng, fearful of her placement at the bottom of the tribe, searched for the idol to no prevail. Sai was forced to babysit Mary in hopes of preventing her from securing any advantage.

Who Won Immunity On Episode 3 of ‘Survivor 48?’

For this Immunity Challenge, each Tribe assigned one caller to guide their Tribe through a series of obstacles as they searched for three bags of key. Upon retrieving each key, the caller would physically walk their blindfolded tribe to the slide puzzle. There, two blindfolded castaways were tasked to successfully complete a slide puzzle led by the caller. The first two tribes to finish would receive Immunity and Reward. The first tribe to finish earned a large comfort kit, including a tarp and hammock, while the second tribe to finish would earn a smaller tarp. Per usual, the Vula Tribe was unable to find any success, losing for the third straight time. Lagi was victorious, coming in first, with Civa right behind.

In addition to winning, the Lagi Tribe selected one castaway from each tribe to go on a Journey. Lagi selected Bianca Roses from their own tribe, Kamilla Karthigesu from Civa, and Justin Pioppi from Vula. At the Journey, the three castaways were separated where they were met with a game of chance. They each had to roll seven dice that featured flames and skulls. They would roll the dice until they received either four flames or four skulls first. Should they roll four flames, they would receive an advantage. should they roll four skulls, they would lose their vote at the next Tribal Council. Unfortunately for Bianca and Justin, they lost their votes. Fate was on Kamilla’s side as she earned an Extra Vote advantage.

With Mary seemingly at the bottom of the tribe, it appeared that it should be easy to pick her off, but the threat of the unknown forced the tribe to determine how to save themselves and get Mary out. Justin foolishly decided not to tell his tribe that he lost his vote, causing them to create plans that would include him. With Mary refraining from telling the truth about a potential Hidden Immunity Idol, she caused Sai to spiral and scramble. She tried to convince Cedrek McFadden to split votes, hoping to avoid her name from coming up. Cedrek and Justin believed that she was bluffing, but Sai was still uneasy.

At Tribal Council, Mary continued to play up the uncertainty, sewing paranoia into the vote. Mary successfully played her Shot in the Dark, keeping her safe and negating all votes cast against her. With two votes on Mary, the tribe was forced to revote. Sai voted for Justin while Cedrek voted for Sai. Because Justin did not have a vote, there were only two votes cast. On the revote, the votes came out the same, causing an unprecedented and historic deadlock. Jeff Probst was forced to reveal Justin’s lack of vote. Typically, those who are safe and were voted against would be safe in a rock draw if a group decision could not be made, but due to the numbers, it would mean Cedrek would automatically go home. Knowing that’s not what he wanted, he became the sole decision-maker. Sai pled to him to keep her safe. Cedrek agreed as long as she agreed to bury the hatchet with Mary. She obliged, and Cedrek switched his vote and voted out Justin.

While many might believe that Sai’s ability to leave Tribal Council safe would earn her the honors, Mary Zheng’s artful mastery of manipulation has earned her this week’s MVP. She not only committed to the bit, but she did so in glorious fashion. She managed to play her Shot in the Dark successfully, something that has rarely happened, all while making her tribe implode before her eyes. Mary has emerged safe in all three Tribal Councils she’s attended. She is a persuasive and strategic player. She has the ability to move through the game if she continues to play the game she’s begun.
