Wausau art studio hosts successful demo day after brief hiatus

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – A local art studio is working to get more people into their studio through a demo day. As the team at Art on Grand works to add more artists to its studio, they’re showcasing the talents that their current ones have.

Art on Grand has been open since mid-November. After taking a brief hiatus during the month of February, the studio is back and better than ever.

While demo day usually that means tearing things down, for Art on Grand, the demonstration day means continuing to build their business up.

“It’s really the start of spring, so it’s to get people out, build some foot traffic,” Chuck O’Brien, co-owner of Art on Grand said.

The studio is off Grand Ave. in Wausau.

O’Brien says the event is not only a good excuse to get people out and about, but also to notice the place.

“We’ve been closed for the month of February. [We] Took February off and we decided that when we opened back up, we needed to make a little noise (and) make sure people remember we’re here,” he said.

O’Brien adds that he’s lucky they can support these artists and any future ones that are interested.

“There’s so much to see here. We’re all one community, whether they’re doing fiber art or they’re doing glass or painting, it’s we’re one big community. Rising tide lifts all boats, right?” O’Brien said.

O’Brien said they’ve learned a lot from their time off and they’re excited for the events they have in store.
