The legendary Gene Hackman is one of the most celebrated actors of the last century, and as a reward for his performances he earned multiple Academy Awards during his career.

Although known by many for his roles as Lex Luthor in the Superman franchise and Coach Norman Dale in Hoosiers, the versatile dramatic actor was nominated for five Academy Awards in his career for other movies. Hackman won Oscars twice, first as Best Actor for his role in The French Connection, and then for Best Supporting Actor in the Western classic Unforgiven.
The late actor passed just a week before the 97th Academy Awards, but his impact on Hollywood is certainly immortalized.
