All Scholastic Sports Team 2025: Landrey Hanna

UNION, Miss. (WTOK) – Landrey Hanna, a student, an athlete, and a leader, she is constantly on the move. Landrey is a three-sport athlete, playing softball, volleyball, and cheerleading, keeping her busy year round. Whether it’s hitting the field, the court, or cheering on her teammates, Landrey puts her all into everything she does. But Landrey’s not just an athlete. She’s a dedicated student, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, has a 30 on her ACT, and ranks in the top 5% of her class. Her discipline and work ethic set her apart, both on and off the field.

“The word that always comes to mind for me, for Landry, is gritty. She’s a go-getter. She is going to make sure she holds her teammates accountable and just like she stated, she knows holding others accountable means that she has to also walk the walk so that has been very, very fun to see her step into that leadership role as a senior this year for us,” said Hayley Stephens, Landrey’s softball coach.

“Just drive and determination. She just [will say], alright, I’m struggling, but we’re all struggling. Let’s go and do this together,” said Band Director Adam Devenney.

It’s that grit that sets Landrey apart, not only on the field but also in the classroom.

“She really is pretty exceptional. The ACT is really high, which means the academics are there, and then she’s just involved in everything,” said Landrey’s former English teacher, Mandy Feasel.

“Landry has a good work ethic, she has a good mentality. She’s competitive at everything. She does not just do athletics; she took over the band this year. Academically, she wants to be the best make, best grades,” said Jacob Stephens, Landrey’s former coach and teacher.

Landrey was also described as tenacious. As a senior, she got involved in the band, something she had never done before.

“With band, I was in band this past year for the first time ever, and you know I went in thinking I’d be really good, and I was not really good. And so I definitely like pushing through that. And there are things like in school that I don’t understand. We have to push through and persist,” said Landrey Hanna.

That persistence would earn Landrey two State Championships, one as a member of the color guard in the Pride of Union marching band and another as a cheerleader. I asked Landrey how everything she is involved in has shaped her as a person

“I think like I said earlier, I wouldn’t be who I am today without it because it has definitely taught me a lot of life lessons that will extend beyond the walls of Union High School. It’s taught me how to persist and how to, you know, push through the challenges and to keep going.”

Landrey exemplifies what a student athlete is to the T. She will continue her education at the University of Mississippi, where she has been admitted into the early-entry pharmacy program.

Congratulations to Landrey Hanna on being named to our 2025 All-Scholastic Sports Team!
