Bhopal: Awaiting a final decision, the Madhya Pradesh League cricket tournament is likely to relocate its matches this year to Indore’s Holkar Cricket Stadium from Gwalior. The tournament’s first edition, which commenced at Gwalior’s new international stadium, garnered significant attention from cricket enthusiasts in MPWhen contacted, MPCA officials said that MPL officials contacted them for organising matches in Indore in the first week of June. “We can host the matches as there will be no other matches during that time. However, the final decision is yet to be taken as it is under consideration,” said the official without quoting his name. MPL officials said that a few matches may be organised, but it is yet to be decided. “It is under consideration. The final decision is yet to be made,” said MPL’s CEO Ravi Patankar.The shift to Indore presents several advantages, including superior hotel accommodations for teams, better flight connectivity, and established cricket facilities. Holkar Stadium has previously hosted numerous international matches and domestic tournaments, making it a proven venue for high-profile cricket events.Local cricket authorities believe this move will enhance the tournament’s reach and accessibility. Indore’s cricket-loving population and its reputation as a sporting hub are expected to boost match attendance and the overall atmosphere.The decision also considers player comfort and tournament logistics. Indore’s weather conditions are generally more favourable for cricket throughout the season.
