CAA Baseball Weekly Awards – March 24
RICHMOND, Va. (March 24, 2025) – Charleston junior infielder Ethan Plyler was selected as the CAA baseball Player of the Week, while UNCW freshman right-hander Cam Bagwell received Pitcher of the Week accolades. North Carolina A&T freshman infielder Tyler Smith was chosen as the Rookie of the Week.
CAA Baseball Player of the Week
Ethan Plyler, Charleston – Jr., IF – Lexington, S.C.
Plyler batted .524 (11-21) with six doubles, a homer and seven RBI’s in Charleston’s five games last week. The junior hit .538 (7-13) with four doubles, a homer and six RBI’s in Charleston’s series win over Elon, including a pair of 3-for-4 efforts in both victories. He was also 3-for-4 with two doubles in a 4-3 setback to SEC foe South Carolina.
CAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Cam Bagwell, UNCW – Fr., RHP – Pineville, N.C.
Bagwell threw the first perfect game in CAA history in UNCW’s 12-0 win over Campbell in seven innings on Sunday. The freshman right-hander struck out three and had only one three-ball count in the game as he recorded the first perfect game for a Seahawks’ pitcher since 1968 and first UNCW no-hitter since 1995. Bagwell improved to 4-0 with a CAA-best 2.02 ERA for the season.
CAA Baseball Rookie of the Week
Tyler Smith, North Carolina A&T – Fr., IF – Hollywood, Fla.
Smith batted .409 (9-22) with two doubles, a homer, nine runs scored and eight RBI’s in North Carolina A&T’s 3-2 week. The freshman infielder drove in all eight runs and scored six times in the Aggies’ series win over William & Mary. For the week, he had multiple hits and scored multiple runs in three contests to raise his season average to a team-best .341.
