A recent report has added fuel to the rumor that Dodge is looking for a comeback to NASCAR. After more than a decade, it looks like a return to the Truck Series is imminent.
New evidence has been been found by Sportsnaut that hints at a potential return, with promotional material from Dodge dealerships specifying a return “back to Nascar Truck Series.” [sic]. According to the outlet, this promotional material is being given to partners and employees.
A screenshot of an email clearly shows the message indicating that it could happen under the RAM brand, now separate to Dodge.
The American brand has had a long history in the sport, with 217 Cup Series victories under its belt, winning its first race in 1953 with Lee Petty. Following this, the iconic Dodge Charger Daytona was dominant in the 1970s. Leaving NASCAR in 2012 after a championship win with Brad Keselowski behind the wheel, fans would love to see the brand return.
The Truck Series is a big opportunity for the RAM brand, with it representing not only a low cost avenue into the sport but also a way to market the name. The standardized Ilmor Engineering NT1 V8 also lowers the barriers to entry.
Multiple sources have suggested that NASCAR is reviewing the addition of a Dodge truck to the Truck Series via its RAM brand. This is expected to be a successful campaign for the manufacturer, and news of the return is expected to come soon. This hasn’t been confirmed by either organization, but it would have to be confirmed soon to allow the new team to begin testing.

On top of this, it’s expected that the Truck Series is only a stepping stone for the marque, who is keen on building a full Cup program by 2028 or even 2027.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was one of the first to react to the rumors.
“That’s very aggressive for the Cup effort, which I don’t think they’ll be able to do that quickly,” he said on the Dale Jr. Download. “… I think this is awesome. Dodge has got such a cool reputation, and I know they’ve had some ups and downs over the past several decades but in my eyes, they’re still a true muscle car brand.
“The Dodge Charger from the 70s is a beautiful vehicle and historic. The Challenger — lot of great vehicles come out of that brand. It’s just a cool brand. I’m thrilled they’re considering a return, and I hope it’s a successful one.”
