Former Chiefs OL Mitch Morse announces retirement after 10 NFL seasons

The Kansas City Chiefs have had many impactful players come through the organization. All draft selections don’t always end with the team, and although they find success elsewhere, some leave an appreciated impact on the franchise.

Jacksonville Jaguars center Mitch Morse went to his Instagram on Thursday to announce his retirement from the NFL after ten seasons.

“The things I’ll remember and cherish most about my career are the relationships and bonds I created with my teammates, both on and off of the field; nothing can replace that, and I will miss it dearly.” wrote Morse. “I want to thank the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars for ten unforgettable seasons. Most of all, I want to thank my wife, Caitlin, and my children, Kennedy and Deacon, for their constant love and support on this journey. I look forward to spending more time with them as I navigate retirement.”

The Chiefs drafted Morse in the second round, 49th overall, in 2015. He started 15 games as a rookie, earning a selection for the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. He briefly played alongside Patrick Mahomes, and his last season ended with a thrilling overtime loss to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Morse signed with the Bills in 2019 and made the Pro Bowl in 2022. He started 143 games during his 10-year career.
