A former Lions offensive coordinator is back in the NFL and back in the NFC.
Scott Linehan was hired as a coach with the New Orleans Saints this week, according to a report from NewOrleans.football.
Linehan will serve in an as-yet-unknown role under new head coach Kellen Moore.
Linehan spent five seasons as the Lions’ offensive coordinator under Jim Schwartz following his tenure as head coach of the Rams. He helped develop Matthew Stafford after the quarterback was drafted by the team in 2009 and directed an offense that ranked among the top five in the NFL in yards per game in his final three seasons.
After Detroit, Linehan spent five seasons with the Cowboys, including four as offensive coordinator.
From there, Linehan has spent the last five seasons in college football with LSU, Missouri and Montana.
