Swiss Christian Gross, the technical director of the Egyptian Zamalek club, said that his team deserved to win against its host, the Mozambican Black Bulls (3-1), today, Sunday, in the fifth round of the African Confederation Cup group stage.
Gross added, during the press conference following the match: “We controlled the course of events, and we translated control into goals, and the matter becomes easy after the first goal.”
He continued: “I am happy with the performance, and I think that Zamalek has the ability to provide more distinguished levels in the coming period. I spoke to the players calmly between the two halves of the match, in order to correct some mistakes, and I assured them that if we implement these instructions, we will score.”
He continued: “I am happy with Zizo’s level with the team, especially since he is one of the important and influential elements. I will work hard with the current team members, and there are some players who need to prove their worthiness to be in the ranks of Zamalek.”Â
Regarding Mahmoud Bentayk’s participation in the left wing position, Gross said: “The pressure of the matches pushes me to try out players in some positions, and I am happy with Bentayk’s return after the injury.”
The White Team qualified for the Confederation Cup quarter-finals, after raising its score to 11 points, at the top of its group, while the Black Bulls’ score stopped at 4 points, in last place.
