Here’s how Texas Longhorns football players did at the 2025 NFL Combine

AUSTIN, Texas — The 2025 NFL Draft starts on April 24, and the Texas Longhorns will be well represented when the three-day event kicks off in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The program sent a total of 14 players to the 2025 NFL Combine – up from last year’s already impressive total of 11 – and although no records were broken this time around, the Longhorns still had an impressive showing in Indianapolis.

Despite former Longhorn wide receiver Isaiah Bond making waves for comments earlier in the week that he would break Xavier Worthy’s combine 40-yard dash record, it was teammate Matthew Golden who ended up stealing the show.

Golden paced wide receivers in the event, finishing with a time of 4.29 seconds and edging out former Tennessee wide receiver Dont’e Thornton Jr. by a 100th of a second. Bond, for his efforts, finished with a time of 4.39 seconds, good for ninth among wide receivers and earning some playful blowback from Worthy.

Along with Golden, the former Longhorn whose draft stock has risen the most since the season ended is defensive back Jahdae Barron. The 2024 Thorpe Award winner finished with a time of 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash, good for sixth among cornerbacks. He also finished with a 35-inch vertical jump, which ranked 11th among cornerbacks, and 10-foot, 3-inch broad jump, which was good for 12th at the position.

Former Longhorn running back Jaydon Blue also shined in the 40-yard dash, finishing second among running backs with a time of 4.38 seconds as he looks to keep building on his steadily improving draft stock. Former Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten led all running backs with a time of 4.32 seconds.

Tight end Gunnar Helm suffered an ankle injury prior to his 40-yard dash attempt, but still clocked a 4.84 second run. He also ran a 7.15-second 3-cone drill and a 4.4-second 20-yard shuttle.

Four former Longhorn offensive linemen were invited to the the Combine, while three worked out on Sunday. Among the highlights were Kelvin Banks Jr., a projected first-round pick, who finished with a 32-inch vertical jump and a 4.66-second run in the 20-yard shuttle. Guard Hayden Conner finished with a 4.88-second run in the 20-yard shuttle.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers was at the combine, but like most other quarterbacks in Indianapolis, he didn’t participate in any individual events. Ewers did, however, throw to receivers in a number of passing drills.

Based on current analysis, Banks, Golden and Barron are projected to be the first Longhorns taken in April’s draft. Banks has been projected by many outlets and draft analysts to be a top 10 selection, while Barron and Golden have both seen their draft stocks rise into the first round conversation.
