Legge to make NASCAR Cup Series debut at Phoenix

Katherine Legge will make her NASCAR Cup Series debut on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway.
Live Fast Motorsports announced via social media that Legge will drive the team’s No. 78 Chevrolet in the event. Legge will be sponsored by DROPLiGHT.
B.J. and Jessica McLeod, the owners of Live Fast Motorsports, do not field the car full-time. McLeod sold his charter after the 2023 season and has since entered the car in select Cup Series races.

Legge has five NASCAR national series starts on her resume – four Xfinity Series races in 2018 and one in 2023. She most recently competed in the ARCA Menards Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway last month, but she only ran three laps as she was collected in an early incident, which relegated her to a 39th-place finish after qualifying ninth.
NASCAR racing has been an infatuation of Legge’s recently and she’s expressed wanting to run more and move through the series and try different styles of racetracks. Legge has been approved for road courses and short ovals thus far. Phoenix is a one-mile facility.
Before her debut in the ARCA Menards Series, Legge spoke at length about stock car racing with RACER’s Marshall Pruett. Legge not only expressed her enjoyment driving stock cars and how comfortable she’s been, but her long-term goals.
“I think we’ve probably got to take it one step at a time and see how we’re going to get there,” Legge said. “I want to do all of the things. I want to do the Daytona 500. I want to do the Coca-Cola 600. I want to do more NASCAR. I want to do more IndyCar. I want to do more sports cars.
“I’m non-discriminatory. I think it would be very cool. I’m no Kyle Larson; I wish I was. I watched him at the Chili Bowl and in that moment, I felt very insignificant and just in awe of the amount of talent that he has. But, you know, wouldn’t that be cool? I think that would be cool. So, never say never. Let’s put it like that.”
