Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski commented on the reasons for his team’s recent decline in La Liga results, as well as the difficulty of facing Real Madrid.
Barcelona is preparing to face Real Madrid tomorrow, Sunday, at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the Spanish Super Cup final.
“It would be too early to say if we are able to win everything,” Lewandowski told ESPN.
“Of course, we can beat anyone, but to win everything, you need luck, and we have incredible potential,” he added.
“But if you want to win the league, you have to win the small games.”
He added: “We have lost some points in some games that may not be important to people, but for us they should be important.”
He continued: “I hope that this year we can win the games that we have to win and also the big games.”
He added: “We were very good at the start of the season, after many games in which we won and scored a lot of goals, there came a period when we did not play the way we wanted to.”
Regarding facing Real Madrid, he said: “I am very excited, I think this final will be really good, and we will give our best, because these are special games, it is the first opportunity to win a title, and I want to win this title.”
He continued: “Real Madrid have many great players, they are very strong individually.”
He added: “Sometimes you think that they are playing slowly, that they are not controlling the game, but they are waiting to throw a punch at you, and we have to be ready.”
“But if we play our football and try not to give them many chances, we can win and be the better team,” he added.
“We have incredible potential, but the mentality is the key to winning every game, we also need luck.”
