Softball sweeps Tigers on road

Franklin College went extra innings twice on Thursday, rallying for 5-3 and 11-8 victories at DePauw. Molly Wallace delivered a two-run single in the eighth inning of the opener for winning pitcher Lauren Duncan, then added another RBI hit as part of a four-run eighth in the nightcap for the Grizzlies (5-2). Eriana Wagner and Olivia Staigl homered in the second game, with Wagner adding a pair of doubles.

Cruse wins Cato scholarship

Greenwood senior Makena Cruse, a multi-sport athlete and a two-year member of the IHSAA’s student advisory committee, was named a recipient of a Cato Memorial Scholarship on Thursday. Cruse was one of 12 seniors statewide to be honored with the scholarship, a $2,500 award for student-athletes who have demonstrated “excellence in academics, school and community involvement, character, sportsmanship and citizenship.”
