Jimmy Johnson, the Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach with two Super Bowl titles and one college National Championship on his resume, officially announced his retirement from FOX Sports on Monday.
While appearing on The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the 81-year-old Johnson revealed that he would step away from the network after 25 years.
“The most fun I ever had in my career, that’s counting Super Bowls and national championships, was at Fox Sports,” Johnson said. “But I’ve made an extremely difficult decision. I’ve been thinking about it for the last four or five years and I’ve decided to retire from Fox. I’m going to miss it. I’m going to miss all the guys. I’ll see them occasionally. It’s been a great run starting 31 years ago.”
Following the announcement, New York Giants legend Michael Strahan expressed his gratitude for Johnson and wished him well in retirement.
Johnson worked at FOX Sports for 25 of its 31 years over two stints. He spent five seasons with the Miami Dolphins before returning to the network in 2002.
Strahan worked side-by-side with Johnson on the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show along with hosts Curt Menefee and Terry Bradshaw and analyst Howie Long.
