Real Madrid star Luka Modric congratulated his opponent Barcelona after losing 5-2 on Sunday evening in the Spanish Super Cup final at the Jewel Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Modric told reporters after the match: “It is better to lose now than to lose later.”
“It’s a tough defeat, we’re hurt but we all have to stick together,” he added.
“We have to congratulate Barcelona. They were better and that’s it. We have to move on. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win,”
he concluded. Modric came on in the second half of the Clasico in the 64th minute instead of Aurelien Tchouameni.
Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup for the 15th time in its history, while Real Madrid has won 13 titles in the same tournament.
