Nets at Hornets betting preview: Prediction, point spread, odds

The Brooklyn Nets (21-41) are riding one of their worst losing streaks of their season at a time when they are trying to get the last seed in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Brooklyn has had a tough schedule coming out of the All-Star Break, but they have a chance to end their losing streak Saturday at the Charlotte Hornets (14-48) and if you’re wondering how you can watch all the action live, you’ve come to the right place!

The Nets enter this matchup following a 121-119 loss on Thursday against the Golden State Warriors in which Brooklyn led the game by as many as 22 points in the contest before Golden State eventually woke up. Cam Johnson led the Nets in scoring with 26 points and four assists, but Stephen Curry turned in one of his best games of the season with 40 points to lead the Warriors to victory.

The Hornets come into this game after a 118-117 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday in which Charlotte almost pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season after entering the matchup as a near 20-point underdog. The main reason that the Hornets were close to pulling off the monumental upset was due to Miles Bridges going off for 46 points and eight rebounds in the contest.

Advice and Prediction

The Nets are on a 6-game losing streak, one of their worst this season, but they have a good opportunity to get back in the winning column with a matchup against the Hornets. While Brooklyn went into the All-Star Break playing like one of the best defenses in the league, the Nets have not been playing much defense recently so Charlotte may give them a chance to get back to basics on that end of the floor.

The Hornets are on a 9-game losing streak of their own so they have not had much luck winning games recently either, but they did almost beat the Cavaliers on Friday. With that being said, Charlotte will be playing on the second night of a back-to-back so it will be interesting to see which players are available for them as they seek to finish the season strong despite some crucial injuries.

The Nets and Hornets rank towards the bottom of the NBA in offensive rating and pace, but the defensive side of the ball has been something that both teams have improved on since the beginning of the season. While Brooklyn has been playing better defense since February, they are still in the bottom half of the league in defensive rating while Charlotte is closer to the middle of the pack in the metric.

Prediction: Nets 110, Hornets 105
