NFL News: Mike Tomlin’s Steelers reportedly think Aaron Rodgers will visit another team that seriously wants him

The Aaron Rodgers situation appeared to get a revealing update when the quarterback met Mike Tomlin during his visit to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. However, it wasn’t enough to tell whether this means something about his future, which remains uncertain ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

The Steelers are aware of that, to the point that they reportedly believe Rodgers will visit another NFL team seriously interested in him. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, people on Tomlin’s team think A-Rod will meet the New York Giants before making a decision.

“So what’s next? Well, Steelers folks seemed to think coming out of their meeting that he’d probably do a similar day with the Giants to get a vibe for their building, and what head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen have built,” Breer wrote.

The Giants, who reportedly chose Jameis Winston over Russell Wilson but are still open to signing Rodgers, appear to be the other NFL team with strong interest in the four-time MVP apart from the Steelers.

Rodgers’ recent visit to Pittsburgh hinted at a possible move to the Steelers, but a visit to the Giants could change the outlook again. Of course, these teams offer different things to the 41-year-old.

Unlike the Steelers, the Giants would look to Rodgers to do what the Jets envisioned him accomplishing and lift a growing, young core brimming with potential within a franchise that’s fallen on hard times. The Steelers meeting did come together quickly, and I heard that Rodgers was planning to spend some time at his home in the New York area, so getting over to see the Giants wouldn’t be overly complicated. Whether it happens will, obviously, be telling,” Breer added.

Different options for Rodgers

Breer believes that Rodgers’ decision will ultimately come down to where he believes there are more chances to succeed. The Steelers, who have had Tomlin as head coach since 2007, boast a team with experienced players and an atmosphere that could remind Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers.

The Giants, on the other hand, are still a work in progress which may be a star quarterback away from fulfilling its potential. Rodgers could be the guy they need, and he wouldn’t have to move to another city again. But only time will tell what he ultimately prefers before the 2025 NFL season gets underway.
