OHSAA state wrestling | See who qualified from Greater Akron/Canton

If you followed the USA Today’s recap of the Hoover Division I District on Saturday, you know a lot happened in high school wrestling.

Don’t fret, we’re here for you and will detail all of the other districts that involved wrestlers from Summit, Stark, Portage and Medina counties.

Here’s how everything went down in the districts that brought forth state qualifiers.

OHSAA wrestling Perrysburg Division I District recap

St. Edward won the team title and sent 13 wrestlers (eight champions) to Columbus. Perrysburg was second with 12 (four champions).

Aurora’s Drake Brasiel (157 pounds), Lake’s Giovanni Cursio (175) and Medina’s Cliff Nicholson (285) were the area’s highest finishers as runners-up.

The Greenmen also had qualifiers Johnny Green (3rd, 120) and Cole Walton (3rd, 165). Lake’s Greyson Clemens (3rd, 138), Medina’s Dominic Difilippo (fourth, 106) also made it to state.

OHSAA wrestling Kenston Division II District recap

Buckeye repeated as district champion and sent four qualifiers to state. Blake Bartos (132) and Austin McKee (138) won titles. Collin Bartos (106) and Danny Beckett (144) were second.

Streetsboro’s Jarreau Walker (106), Canton South’s Dom Prosperi (113), Field’s Carter White (157) and Brayton Feister (215) won titles.

Woodridge’s Gavin Genovese (113), Marlington’s Luke Stanley (132), Tallmadge’s Ian Bee (150), Hoban’s Brydon Feister and CVCA’s David Grimes (285) were second.

CVCA’s Rocco Czarnecki (132) and Paul Tepley (132) were third. Coventry’s Kaden Orndorrf (106), Streetsboro’s Cohen Klimak (165) joined them.

Copley’s Max Holley (106) and Desmond Childers (132) were fourth along with CVCA’s Dylan Hart (144), St. Vincent-St. Mary’s Rylan Hurley (165), Coventry’s Evan Owen (215) and Canton South’s DeAngelo Spear (285).

OHSAA wrestling Independence Division III District recap

Lake Catholic won the team title with three champions and five state qualifiers. Rootstown was second with two champions and six state qualifiers.

The Rovers picked up titles from Nick Malek (144) and Brian Youngblood (175). Tuslaw’s Kaden Lawson (120) and Chippewa’s Alberto Moreno (138) finished first, so did Twinsburg resident and Lake Catholic star Danny Zmorowski (215).

Garrettsville Garfield’s Landon Andel (138) was second.

Third-place finishes came in pairs from Rootstown’s Mason King (113) and Dominic Duvall (150), Southeast’s Dominic Kemble (126), Tuslaw’s Ethan Haer (138) and Logan Haer (150) and Canton Central Catholic’s Issac Ray (175) and Axel Estrada (285).

Garfield’s Cam Lewick (113), Manchester’s Evan Kusmits (138) and Phil Partin (150) and Tuslaw’s Guhner Eberhardt (215) were fourth, as were Rootstown’s Alex Ely (126) and Rylan Campbell.
