Oilers acquire Frederic in three-team deal with Bruins, Devils

The Bruins have flipped Frederic, along with forward Max Jones and unsigned draft choice Petr Hauser, to the Edmonton Oilers ahead of the trade deadline, the teams announced Tuesday

To facilitate the deal and retain 50 per cent of Frederic’s salary, the New Jersey Devils will acquire forward Shane LaChance from the Oilers.

Boston will acquire AHL defenceman Max Wanner, a 2025 St. Louis Blues second-round pick (via Edmonton) and a 2026 Oilers fourth-round pick in the deal.

Frederic, 27, is a depth centre who has shown flashes of offence in the past. This season he has eight goals and 15 points in 57 games, while throwing 155 hits. Last season, he scored a career-high 18 goals. Frederic is currently out of the lineup with a lower-body injury but is expected to return late in the season.

He has spent his entire career with the Bruins but is on an expiring contract with a $2.3-million cap hit.
