Paige Bueckers drawing all the attention ahead of UConn’s Final Four showdown with UCLA

TAMPA, FL. (WFSB) – UConn women’s basketball superstar Paige Bueckers has been the center of attention in Tampa as the team prepares to take on UCLA in the Final Four of the NCAA Women’s Tournament Friday evening.

The interview sessions for the Huskies had more photographers and reporters than the Bruins, Texas, and South Carolina.

This comes with the knowledge that Bueckers will be putting on the UConn jersey for two more games at most. That’s if the Huskies make it to the championship game Sunday.

When it was her and two other teammates on the podium, Bueckers was the one fielding most of the questions.

If she is not taking questions, it’s her teammates being asked about her.

She has been a big part of the growth of the women’s side of college basketball for the last few years.

She has played an integral part in games being televised on several networks in prime time and why ESPN paid millions of dollars to obtain the rights.

Someone who has had a front row seat for this is Holly Rowe, as her sideline work for the network sometimes brings classic interviews.

As for the game itself, the differences in experience are stark. The Huskies have appeared in 24 Final Fours, while UCLA are making their first ever appearance.

Despite the Bruins having an outstanding season that earned them a No. 1 seed in the tournament, all the talk has been about UConn.

UCLA has noticed that and the fact that they have been considered the underdog.

Tip time is set for around 9:00 p.m. Friday night. The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.
