TAMPA, Fla. – UConn women’s basketball redshirt senior Paige Bueckers and freshman Sarah Stong were named to the 10-member WBCA Coaches’ All-America team, as announced by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Thursday.
The Coaches’ All-America team is composed of the 10 best players in NCAA Division I regardless of position as chosen by the division’s head coaches.
Bueckers is now a three-time WBCA All-American, becoming the third Husky to be a three-time honoree. She also earned the Wade Trophy on Thursday and was previously named a Wooden Award, AP, USBWA and The Athletic First Team All-American.
Bueckers is UConn’s leader on and off the court in her final season in Storrs. She is averaging a team-high 20.1 points and 4.8 assists per game. Bueckers is one of the most efficient guards in the nation and is averaging a .543/.432/.888 shooting split this season. She ranks second nationally with a 3.49 assist-turnover ratio.
Against top-25 opponents this season, Bueckers averaged 23.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
Bueckers has hit a new level in the postseason, averaging 26.1 points on a .574/.514/.889 shooting split while averaging 3.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game across the BIG EAST Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
The Hopkins, Minn., native has led UConn to the 2025 NCAA Final Four. In every season she has played at UConn, Bueckers has taken the Huskies to the Final Four.
Bueckers currently ranks third in UConn history with 2,406 career points and is ninth with 556 career assists.
As just a freshman, Strong has established herself as one of the top players in the nation. She is averaging 16.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Strong leads the Huskies in rebounds, steals and blocks and ranks second on the team in points and assists.
Against top-25 opponents this season, Strong averaged 16.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
Strong already ranks in the top 10 for UConn freshmen records for numerous statistical categories: second in points (611), first in rebounds (333), second in assists (135), fourth in steals (89) and fourth in blocks (62).
In her first collegiate postseason, Strong is averaging 15.9 points and 12.6 rebounds and has six double-doubles in seven games. Strong was named to the NCAA Spokane Region 4 All-Tournament team while helping lead UConn to the 2025 Final Four.
Strong was unanimously named the BIG EAST’s Freshman of the Year and The Athletic’s National Freshman of the Year. She was selected to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team after recording double-doubles in all three games, averaging 14.3 points and 13. 7 rebounds per game.
Strong was named an AP Second Team All-American and USBWA Third Team All-American.
Twenty-six Huskies have earned WBCA All-America honors 50 times.
The second-seeded Huskies (34-3) face No. 1-seed UCLA (34-2) in the Final Four on Friday at 9:30 p.m. in Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The game will air on ESPN, Westwood One and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97-9).
