Red Sox Fans Should Love Massive Day For These Star Infielders

The potential starting left side of the infield put on an absolute show in spring training action Friday for the Boston Red Sox.

Alex Bregman and Trevor Story flexed their power at the plate as the Red Sox defeated the Miami Marlins in a 20-5 victory.

Bregman reached base four times and filled up the stat sheet with two hits, a home run, a hit-by-pitch, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored as his first spring continues with the Red Sox. Meanwhile, Story put together a strong day with two home runs as part of a three-hit day with three runs scored.

Together, the Red Sox potential Opening Day third baseman and shortstop tallied five hits, five runs scored and five runs driven in with three total homers. Boston will rely on veteran difference-makers to set the scene for promising prospects to contribute for Boston in 2025.

If Bregman is indeed the Opening Day third baseman, there’s still a very clear path for the Red Sox to maximize the roster with a full lineup and a vastly improved defensive alignment. Rafael Devers obviously plays a massive role in how this shapes out with his spring training debut tentatively planned for next week with the clock ticking down to the regular season.
