ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Six months after a shooting left two students and two teachers dead and seven more injured, the Apalachee High School community is still recovering.
Now, that recovery has a chance to include a unique opportunity for many of the kids involved in the horror of Sept. 4, 2024.
The Apalachee High School soccer team, which had two players injured in the shooting, is raising money to send its athletes to England to play in matches against English youth clubs.
But the trip is expensive. The team is asking for help and has set up an online fundraiser.
The trip includes playing three matches against English teams, touring three English professional stadiums, training with professional coaches and exploring the rabid English soccer culture over 10 days.
Atlanta News First Reporter Joshua Skinner is at Apalachee High School and will have the latest on Atlanta News First at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
