UFC Vegas 105 loses budding Heavyweight knockout artist last-minute, Kyrgyz ‘Gorilla’ steps up on short notice

“Sin City” lost an “African Savage” this weekend.

Unfortunately, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight knockout artist Kennedy Nzechukwu will no longer compete against Martin Buday at UFC Vegas 105 this weekend (Sat., April 5, 2025) due to an injury. However, Buday is staying on the card and will now face Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) Light Heavyweight Champion Uran Satybaldiev on two days’ notice.

UFC announced the change today in a press release.

Buday (14-2) last competed at UFC 303 in an absolutely awful fight against Andrei Arlovski, after which the former UFC Heavyweight champion was handed his walking papers. Even though it was a bad fight, it got the Slovakian fighter back in the win column after his first UFC defeat at the hands of Shamil Gaziev.

Buday is currently 5-1 in the promotion.

Satybaldiev (9-0) most recently competed in the main event of LFA 203, where he defended his Light Heavyweight championship against Leon Soares. The fight was absolutely bonkers for three rounds.

“Gorilla” trains out of Team Alpha Male under Urijah Faber and holds a 77% finish rate with six knockouts. He’ll step up to Heavyweight for this fight.

For what it’s worth, Satybaldiev has been on the UFC’s radar for a while, as he was supposed to compete on season eight of Contender Series against Raffael Cerqueira.
