Ursuline Nets Three-Peat in TAPPS Soccer

When it comes to the crowded soccer trophy case at Ursuline, there’s always room for one more. The TAPPS dynasty continued for the Bears with a 2-0 win over Houston St. Agnes in the Division I championship game on Wednesday in Round Rock.

It marks the third consecutive crown for Ursuline and 31st overall for the most decorated private-school program in Texas.

“I couldn’t be prouder of this team and the heart they showed all season,” said Ursuline head coach Darrin Hedges. “Winning three straight state titles is no easy feat, but these girls played with grit, determination, and an unbreakable bond.”

Standout striker Audrey Bryant, a Texas signee, and sophomore Stella Weismueller scored for the Bears (24-2-1), who finished the season with 14 consecutive wins. Gabi Garza earned the shutout in goal.

Ursuline advanced to the title game after defeating rival Bishop Lynch in penalty kicks in Tuesday’s semifinals, following a 1-1 draw in regulation. Meanwhile, St. Agnes had won its first three playoff games by a combined margin of 24-0.

“Audrey and Stella’s goals were huge for us today, but this championship was won by every player who stepped on the field and every teammate who supported from the sidelines,” Hedges said. “This team is special, and they’ve left an incredible legacy for Ursuline soccer.”
