Women’s Golf Positioned In Second At Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – North Florida women’s golf jumped out to a fast start and continued playing well through 36 holes to be one off the team lead in second overall hosting the Momentum Transportation UNF Collegiate on Monday afternoon.

The Ospreys are looking to make a push to its first team title in their home tournament since 2022, as well as their first team title since winning in the ASUN Championship in 2022. UNF was the four-time team champion at its home event every season from 2019-2022.

Casilda Allendesalazar is not only the lead dog for the Ospreys, but also in the tournament field tied with Anna Andrysova from UL-Monroe. They both sit at 4-under 140 through a pair of rounds with a six-stroke lead over the next-best group players.

Allendesalazar looks to make it back-to-back medalist crown winners for North Florida after Christin Eisenbeiss brought in the program’s first individual title at a home tournament last year. Helen Zhou and Bradyn Smith, who is playing as a unattached individual, are tied for 12th overall with scores of 6-over 150 combined.

ROUND REFLECTIONS

  • Allendesalazar carded 11 total birdies, including four over the first six holes of the opening round.
  • She added her ninth-career round in the 60s in the second round, as well as her 21st and 22nd rounds under par.
  • The senior will be looking for her 20th-career top-10 finish and sixth medalist crown in her last home event.
  • Zhou added four birdies with a plethora of pars to be among the top of the leaderboard in the top 12 at 6-over.
  • Kaitlyn Schroeder played her best golf of the day in the second round with nine straight pars and back-to-back birdies to close out Monday at 11-over 155 in 34th overall.
  • Kaitlynn Washburn and Tantai Seema wrapped up the 36-hole marathon scoring 14-over and 16-over respectively.
  • Smith will be looking to reach career-bests unattached in 54-hole score and top finish after a career-best second round of 2-over 74.
