CLEVELAND, Ohio — You’ve seen “Wicked” on the big screen, now see it on an even bigger screen.
The film, a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz” starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, kicks off the Great Lakes Science Center’s new DOME Movies After Dark series at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 20. The movie, which won a pair of Oscars on Sunday including one for Akron native Paul Tazewell’s costume design, will be shown in the center’s Cleveland Clinic DOME Theater. The auditorium features a giant screen six stories high and 11,600 watts of ultra-real digital sound.
Tickets are $10.95 for adults and $8.95 for kids, with discounts available to members. The museum’s extended hours on Thursdays means moviegoers can check out the exhibits before the film for an added charge.
The lineup continues on April 17 with Christopher Nolan’s 2014 sci-fi epic “Interstellar.” It will be followed by one of the most popular movies of all time, “Titanic,” directed by James Cameron and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, on May 29.
The Great Lakes Science Center is located at 601 Erieside Ave. next to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in downtown Cleveland.
