Both Franklin & Marshall and York Colleges will host regionals of the NCAA Division III men’s basketball tournament this weekend.
Bids, brackets and schedules for the tournament were announced Monday.
F&M (21-6) will host Catholic University (22-5) in a first-round game at 6 p.m. Friday at the Mayser Center. In the first half of a doubleheader, Randolph-Macon (23-4), ranked fifth in the country by the NCAA Power Index, will host Westfield State (21-6) at 3:30 p.m.
The winners play Saturday at 6 p.m. at Mayser.
F&M, which earned an automatic bid to the tournament by winning the Centennial Conference championship Sunday, is ranked 21st in the country according to the NPI.
York beat Alvernia Saturday to win the Landmark Conference title and earn an automatic berth. Its roster includes six Lancaster-Lebanon League alums, among them leading scorer Kai Cipalla (Warwick).
The Spartans (21-6) host John Carroll (22-5) Friday at 7:20 p.m.
The other half of that doubleheader pits NYU (24-1) against Cortland (17-11) at 4:50 pm. Friday’s winners play Saturday at 7:20 p.m.
NYU is ranked second in the country. NYU could not host a men’s regional because its women’s team was hosting one
The tournament has a 64-team field. The national semifinals will be played March 20 and the championship game March 22 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
