Gov. Braun bans trans women from women’s sports at Indiana schools

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Governor Mike Braun has signed two new executive orders focused on transgender Hoosiers.

Executive Order 25-35 bans transgender women and girls from participating in women or girls sports at Indiana schools. Executive Order 25-36 says there are only two genders-the male and female sexes.

“Women’s sports create opportunities for young women to earn scholarships and develop leadership skills,” Braun said in a statement. “Hoosiers overwhelmingly don’t want those opportunities destroyed by allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports, and today’s executive order will make sure of that.”

“Indiana will not go along with this radical new idea of what gender means, and we will not allow tax dollars to be used to promote this ideology,” Braun said in a statement.
