ThorSport Racing announces new driver signing for NASCAR Truck Series debut

ThorSport Racing has announced that Luke Baldwin will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Martinsville Speedway on March 28.

The North Carolina-born driver has secured a multi-race deal with the team to drive the No. 66 Ford F-150 alongside Luke Fenhaus and Johnny Sauter.

Commenting on his new signing, the 18-year-old stated to Flo Racing:

“I’ve signed a three-race deal with ThorSport Racing to go truck racing, and I have never been more excited for something in my life.

“This is something everyone dreams of as a kid and I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to do it, thanks to Duke, Rhonda, and Ali Thorson.

“This will be a whole new ball game in multiple ways, whether it’s the competition, the way the trucks drive, or the atmosphere, but I think the time I’ve spent in the SMART Tour and the CARS Tour will definitely help me catch up sooner than later.”

Baldwin, the son of Daytona 500 champion crew chief Tommy Baldwin Jr and the grandson of Modified icon Tom Baldwin, added:

“I’m extremely blessed to be in the situation that I am in.

“Hopefully, I can make the most of it. Driving all of these different types of race cars just accelerates my learning curve and helps me be a more well-rounded race car driver.

“These last three to four years since I’ve started racing have been a dream. Each year has gotten busier and busier as we’ve gone on, and I couldn’t ask for anything better.”

ThorSport Racing was founded in 1996 as SealMaster Racing by Duke and Rhonda Thorson. The Ohio-based squad has celebrated six Drivers’ Championship titles in the NASCAR Truck Series as well as 54 race victories and 44 pole positions across the Truck Series and ARCA Racing Series.

The NCTS Race at Martinsville is set to take place on Friday, March 28, following the Baptist Health 200 at Homestead-Miami Speedway the week prior. Baldwin will compete in two further races with the team this season. However, these have not been confirmed at this time.
