WESLEY CHAPEL, Fl. – The NMU women’s golf team rounded out the week in sixth place from the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Florida.
The Wildcats finished sixth of seven teams, posting a team score of +72 today to finish at +207 for the week. No. 5 Marian controlled the field, claiming first as a team with a three day total of +92 , followed by No. 32 Bethel at +134 and McKendree in third with +154.
The course played the hardest its played all week today, averaging a score of 92.56 with a three-day average of 92.05. The ‘Cats were sixth on the field in par three scoring (+82, 4.14 avg.), par four scoring (+235, 5.31 avg.), and par five scoring (+91, 6.26 avg.).
Maggie Pietila finished first on the team and 13th overall after her round of 88 (+16) today, giving her a three-round total of +38. Maggie carded the only Wildcat birdie on the day, with her three coming on the par-four 11th, only one of six birdies on that hole all week, and one of four Wildcat birdies. Maggie finished sixth in par three scoring (+6, 3.50 avg.), fourth in par four scoring (+16, 4.53). Pietila posted a tie for sixth in birdies with four, just three shy of the leader, and was sixth in pars with 25, just six shy of the leader.
Maddy Martens posted a score of +23 today, the fourth-best Wildcat round of the day, sliding down five spots overall to finish 20th with a three-day total of +50.
The best Wildcat round of the day belonged to Abbie Pietila, who scored a final round of +15 (87) to finish with a three-day total of +59, moving up three spots to finish 26th as an individual. Finishing just behind her was teammate Hailey Bolander, whose round of +18 (90) gave her a three-day total of +60 to finish 27th overall.
Gabriella Moreau (+95) finished in 34th, Payton Dube (+106) finished 36th, and individuals Olivia Brill (+83) and Abby Luke (+95) finished 33rd and 34th, respectively.
